Inauguration of Marlena Kudlicka’s sculpture velvet mind marble thoughts

This autumn two new sculptures appeared at the Sculpture Park in Orońsko. The first, multimedia installation Antipodes (2019) by Joanna Krzysztoń and Grzegorz Rogala, was made with the contribution of the Gdańsk Community Foundation, and allows us to take a peek at the other side of the globe.

The other sculpture – beautifully shimmering with various colours among the trees is Queen (2013) by Maurycy Gomulicki, who defines himself as an artist of bliss, and will brighten up our days for several years thanks to the Mercedes Benz company.

The Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko commissioned Marlena Kudlicka to make a special sculpture for the park: velvet mind marble thoughts. The gala inauguration will take place on 18 January 2020. The installation is produced by the Vitro Plus company from Baranów near Poznan. I thought about a sculptural form as open communication, specially as the geometry of communication based on understatements, remains of unfinished sentences, misunderstanding of the context of a sentence, when a percent of inaccuracy builds other meanings and imaginings, says Marlena Kudlicka about her sculpture.

Marlena Kudlicka lives and works in Berlin and in Poznan. In 2019 she won the 1st prize in the KUNST AM BAU BTU Cottbus competition for sculpture in the open air. She showed her works in solo and group exhibitions in many museums and galleries in Europe, North and South America, inter alia at MACBA Buenos Aires in Argentina,  Skulpturenmuseum Glaskasten Marl in Germany, CGAC Santiago de Compostela in Spain, Contemporary Museum in Wrocław, Zachęta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw, Ludwig Múzeum in Budapest. In 2016 the artist’s monograph was released by the Distanz publishing company.
