Portugal in Orońsko
Unexpected Beginning of Autumn
Festival of Portuguese Culture
Sunday, 8 September 2019, from 12:00 to 19:00
On 8 September 2019 from 12:00 we cordially invite to Orońsko all lovers of fado music, port wine and the sunny Portugal to which our new, seventeenth edition of “The Unexpected Beginning of Autumn” is dedicated. As each year, the programme of events is original and varied, it has its regular guests who are looking forward to new events of the cycle. We would like everyone to join in the fun – those who have been to Portugal and those who haven’t been there yet. Orońsko offers a unique chance to feel the taste and atmosphere of this beautiful country.
One of the stars of the day will be a Portuguese musician João de Sousa, who will be promoting his latest record in Orońsko, Kinga Rataj will give a concert of fado music; performing this genre of music the artist reached the level of native Portuguese singers. The organizers assure that her concert will be an unforgettable chance for great entertainment. Teatro SÓ – Portuguese theatre of stiltwalking street performers will present the show Sómente. It is a pantomime show and the actors express the essence of feelings and emotions through movement and gesture. The show will be a wonderful experience as an unusual spectacle for children as well as for adults, thanks to its profound message. Dance lovers are going to get a nice surprise – the presentation of kizomba, or African tango popularized by dancers from Portugal. It has been also gaining popularity in Poland next to such dances as salsa or bachata. Its character, sensuality, African moves of the body and dynamic music make the dance increasingly popular every year.
One of the most popular symbols of Portugal is galo de Barcelos – or a little black rooster – a synonym of sincerity, trust and honour. In Orońsko you will be able to take part in a competition for the most beautiful rooster made in any technique: painted, sculpted in clay or in fondant icing in the form of a lollipop. Everyone will be able to take part in the creation of a giga-sardine, which next to the rooster is another symbol associated with Portugal. Children are going to enjoy a specially designed playground, as well as field games and competitions with prizes. Special stalls will offer original little roosters, regional wines and foods, jewellery, decorative and industrial objects made of cork. A Portuguese restaurant will be serving dishes typical of Portuguese cuisine.
Non-motorized visitors may use free coaches which will go to Orońsko from Bay 5 at the coach station in Radom at 12:30 and 14:30; the return coaches leave Orońsko towards Radom at 18:00 and 19:30 from the CRP parking lot at the S 7 route.
A special coach from Warsaw leaves from the Zachęta parking lot at 10:00.
